My family plays music, dances, etc. at a local nursing home once a month, and it's a wonderful experience! I open up the opportunity to my students, as well. Not only does it benefit my students to have the chance to perform monthly, but it's also a lot of fun for the residents to watch the kids grow up and improve.
My daughter really wanted to do a ballet dance, so we practiced a bit, I pretended like she was a doll, and I brought her out to the dance floor. She got a little nervous in the middle, but the beauty of performing is students are able to continue on through their mistakes, and, at the end, she was very happy.
