Nursing Home Recital Checklist
Step #1: Date
- Select a recital date
- Call and book in advance
- Note: Contact the nursing home at least 3 days before the recital to confirm with them that you are coming.
Step#2: Combine Efforts
- Contact parents and ask them to help you at the recital
- Possibly have the students make a card/craft for the residents
- Contact parents to see if their other children would have talents they would like to show. Art work, dance, poems, etc.
- If needed, contact other teachers to have their students join.
Step#3: Recital Script
- Write your program script
- Practice with each student what they should say.
- Name
- Age
- One thing about them
- Their recital piece
Step #4: Recital Invitation (2 months before)
- Send invitations 2 months before the recital to the parents.
- Time
- Date
- Location
- Dress
- Supplies that student might need.
Step #5: Recital Prep (One week before)
- Print programs (If needed. Many of the nursing residents will not be able to hold the programs.)
- Practice the entire performance with each students several times.
- What the student will say
- Their song
- bowing
Step #6: Recital Rehearsal & Performance (Day of recital)
- Arrive to your location at least 20 minutes early.
- Keep program to 35-45 minutes
- Allow time to talk to the residents afterwards
