I can't tell you how important it is to have your child's hands and body relaxed while playing piano, violin, or really any other instrument.
When I was young I was playing the piano, had a keyboarding class and a web design class. My hands got overloaded and I ended up getting carpal tunnel syndrome. It was so bad that my 5th finger would turn purple.
Google's definition of Carpal Tunnel Syndrome:
Carpal tunnel syndrome
Consult a doctor if you have a medical concern.
Carpal tunnel syndrome is a condition in which there is pressure on the median nerve -- the nerve in the wrist that supplies feeling and movement to parts of the hand. It can lead to numbness, tingling, weakness, or muscle damage in the hand and fingers.
How to keep the hands relaxed:
1) Hand exercises-I suggest that you learn the exercises from the video and then teach your kids.
3) Making sure that your child's hands and upper body are not stiff when playing the instrument, which will take constant reminder for a while.
This will help!
