{For Kids}

My daughter helped inspire me for this one. I've been having a hard time figuring out how to get her to hold her violin flat. We found one of her beaver toys and I told her to keep her violin flat, otherwise it would fall off and beaver would feel sad. It worked! She was concerned about his safety and tried much harder! Yeah!

Getting my daughter to keep her thumb on the "frog" of her violin bow can be really frustrating. I printed out a picture of a frog to help her think that putting her frog on her thumb is more fun. It's working, try it out!

Muscle Memory
I kept trying to figure out how to help my daughter learn how to play the E string on the violin. Now before you faint with shock, keep in mind that what I did ISN'T hurting the violin.
1) Find pretty (if the violinist is a girl) ribbon to cover the strings that you don't want the violinist to pay.
2) Wrap the ribbon and tape.

This way the violinist is completely unable to play anything except for the string that you want them to play on.

Why does this help?

It helps because the violinist will learn muscle memory with that string.

For the E string, I tell my daughter to "hug her arm". She'll do this by bringing her arm closer into the body and then there's finally sound.

Simple and effective!

Princess Violin

This is  a great way to help your kids want to play their instrument. Have them play to their favorite toy and pretend that they are teaching them as well.

I've certainly seen a improvement in my daughter.

Wow, what a great resource for kids to learn some of the basics for music. It has certainly helped with my little girl and I'm anxious to to see how my other students like them.
